Peterboroughs Casino Plans Face Opposition

City MP Stewart Jackson opposed the Peterborough's casino plans.

According to Mr. Jackson, the casino might increase problem gambling and might lure people to have more debts.

Canon Bruce Ruddock of Peterborough Cathedral has supported the opinions of Mr. Jackson and has argued that minors and vulnerable will be attracted to gambling if casino is will be built on Peterborough.

Mr. Jackson said that his apprehension is Peterborough residents will be in the same trap Tony Copley is currently facing.

A retired Army Chef, Copley, had used fifteen credit cards to fund his online gambling habit that led to his addiction.

Copley became addicted to playing online casino games like roulette and fruit machine. He is sending warnings to other about the danger of gambling.

Peterborough is one of the sixteen cities that have been permitted with a license to build a casino in the city.

Mr. Jackson said that casinos send wrong signals to people about winning large amounts of money and entices them to end up with serious financial problem.

Copley has a debt in credit cards and loans amounting to 47,000 UK Pounds. He decided to cut all his credit cards and has just announced bankruptcy.

Copley is now an advocate and advising others to stop gambling.
